By the time she got home, Lindsey’s mind and body were exhausted. Her limbs felt weak and when she sat down, her legs immediately started to tingle, before going into full blown pins and needles. Her head felt like it was in a fog and she had a pain starting at the back of her eyeballs. It had been weeks since she’d had a full night’s sleep and she felt in desperate need of one tonight, in spite of what that much needed sleep might bring with it.

She went to the cupboard and rooted around until she found a box of herbal sleeping pills, which apparently were aimed at insomniacs. She bought them after coming off the benzodiazepines. They’d never worked for her in the past, but she was willing to try anything tonight. The box said to take two with water, so she poured six into her hand and took them with half a bottle of wine and went to bed.

As predicted, she lay there looking at the ceiling for at least an hour, before finally her eyes started to get heavy and her mind began to shut down.
